What is the latest news about aliens? (2025 Update)

If you’ve been searching for the freshest headlines and developments related to aliens, UFOs, or extraterrestrial life, you’re in luck, the year 2025 has already delivered a number of intriguing stories, scientific debates, and policy moves. I have compiled a review of the most compelling alien and UFO news of 2025.

Video surfaces showing Hellfire missile striking — and bouncing off — a Tic Tac

At a UFO Congressional House Oversight hearing in September 2025, a never before seen video was revealed showing a Hellfire missile apparently striking a glowing UFO Tic Tac off Yemen’s coast, but the UFO object doesn’t seem to deviate, and the missile simply bounces off of the UFO.

Surge in UFO reports under investigation

According to Pentagon and Congressional sources, more than 750 new UFO cases were reported between May 2023 and June 2024. Of those 750 cases, 21 UFO cases are currently deemed as “unexplained” even after review. Despite the spike in reports, government officials emphasize that no confirmed alien origin has been proven. However, these 21 cases must be taken extremely seriously and rigorously investigated. If even one UFO case turns out to be alien, that would shatter our world view.

Underwater alien bases? Congress weighs speculations

In a surprising twist, Tennessee Congressman Tim Burchett claimed that alien beings may inhabit five or six submerged bases off the United States coast. He cited naval personnel reporting ultra fast underwater USO crafts exceeding conventional submarine speeds. While this is extremely speculative, it signals the depth of UFO interest, even within the United States government, about UFOs, but especially under water craft.

The interstellar object “3I/ATLAS” sparks debate

An interstellar object dubbed 3I/ATLAS has drawn intense scrutiny around the world because of its odd behavior. Some researchers, including Harvard’s Avi Loeb, suggest it might be an alien probe. Avi Loeb argues that certain trajectory and brightness anomalies warrant an “open mind” approach. However, the majority consensus among astronomers throughout the world, is that 3I/ATLAS is a simply a comet exhibiting “normal” cometary outgassing. The comet contains a lot of carbon dioxide ice and this gas behaves differently from water ice seen in comets originating in our own solar system. I would agree with the assessment that 3I/Atlas is just a comet given the current evidence.

Mysterious “UFO orb” found in Colombia

In March 2025, a metallic spherical UFO object was purportedly recovered in Buga, Colombia, after being seen flying in the sky. Some of the key findings and claims about the so called, "Buga Sphere," include:

  • It weighed approx. 4.5 pounds and felt cold.

  • No welds or joints were found, implying potential artificial origin.

  • Inside the sphere are 18 micro spheres that surround a central nucleus, and there are surface engravings resembling ancient scripts like Ogham and Mesopotamian. Skeptics caution that these extraordinary claims require rigorous verification.

Documentaries and public interest

A new documentary, The Age of Disclosure, explores the notion of United States government cover-ups and potential alien contact. While the film has drawn attention, many scientists remain skeptical about its conclusions.

What We Know, What We Don’t, and What to Watch for

What we know

  • UFO reports have increased, and government agencies are taking them more seriously.

  • Many UFO cases have mundane explanations, but a lot do not.

  • 3I/ATLAS is almost certainly a comet, but its odd traits make it worth observing.

  • No verified alien life or contact has been confirmed as of October 2025.

What we don’t know

  • Whether any UFOs truly originate from nonhuman intelligence, but it is suspected.

  • If aliens are real, how their spacecraft would achieve the observed feats of speed, maneuverability, stealth, and more.

  • What conclusive proof of alien life would look like or where to find it.

What to watch Coming Up

  1. Further congressional hearings or new disclosures of UFO evidence

  2. Peer-reviewed studies on the Colombian Buga sphere or other physical specimens

  3. Updates on interstellar objects like 3I/ATLAS or newly detected ones

  4. Advancements in SETI & Astrobiology, especially from the James Webb, and future telescopes, and space missions

  5. International collaborations, aliens, if they exist, aren’t a United States only story

In conclusion, 2025 has had a lot of news about aliens and UFOs. I have only touched the surface of what has been reported and discussed this year so far. While we must always be cautious about drawing conclusions that something must be alien, we must also always keep an open mind to the possibility of aliens. I believe that is where many scientists fail, is that they naturally assume something cannot be alien, and do not investigate UFO sightings or other objects fully, and just dismiss them. However, we also cannot go to the other extreme and just start labeling every weird thing in the sky and space as aliens. Proper investigation and analysis should be done with any sighting.
