The question of where are the most UFO sightings is a difficult question to answer. However, if we are talking about absolute numbers, then the United States reports the most UFO sightings than any other country in the world.

These UFO sighting numbers could be due to the large population of the United States and its extensive civilian reporting UFO networks. Reliable public datasets such as NUFORC and MUFON show that the United States is currently dominating global counts of UFO sightings.
Global Picture — Countries with most reported UFO sightings
Now, if you also tally the raw report counts of UFO sightings, then the following countries repeatedly top public lists of UFO sightings:
United States — the biggest single source of UFO reports both in raw numbers and many of the best-documented modern UFO cases. Civilian reporting UFO organizations and decades of media attention make the United States dominant in public UFO sightings.
Canada, United Kingdom, Australia — all of these countries show up frequently in international UFO sighting reporting, and they also have active reporting UFO communities and media interest.
Brazil, Argentina, France, Italy — all of these countries have many notable local UFO cases and active UFO enthusiasts. Argentina in particular hosts several repeat-reporting UFO hotspots.
Again, these numbers simply reflect UFO reporting infrastructure as much as the raw UFO phenomena.
Famous National & Regional UFO Hotspots
Below are locations that consistently emerge as UFO hotspots, which are simply places where UFO sightings cluster together, where sustained public UFO interest exists, and where well-known UFO incidents are part of the local identity.
United States – Roswell, New Mexico (and wider Southwest)
Why it’s famous: the 1947 Roswell UFO incident catapulted into American pop culture and remains the most famous alleged UFO crash/cover-up story in the world. Roswell’s fame generates tourism and continued UFO reporting. The United States Southwest is frequently cited in UFO sighting databases, and might be due to it having clear skies, military activity, and military test ranges.
United Kingdom – Bonnybridge / the “Falkirk Triangle” and Rendlesham Forest
Bonnybridge, Scotland: this is often called Scotland’s UFO capital. Local observers report hundreds of UFO sightings across decades of time. This concentrated local UFO reporting pushes it into the “most UFO sightings per area” lists.
Rendlesham Forest, England: the site of the 1980 Rendlesham Forest UFO incident involving United States military personnel. This is one of Britain’s best publicized military-involved UFO encounters.
Argentina – Capilla del Monte / Cerro Uritorco
Why it’s on the map: the mountain Cerro Uritorco and nearby Capilla del Monte have decades of reported UFO activity and a local UFO-tourism culture. Large multi-witness UFO events have been reported over the years. The area also markets itself to UFO-curious tourists as well.
Other notable UFO Hotspots
Brazil: many UFO sightings and some mass-witness UFO events have been reported in Brazil. There is also a strong civilian UFO interest and several local UFO investigators.
Trans-En-Provence and Nancy, France: these have sites of classic European UFO cases which are notable for close-contact and ground UFO traces, having been studied by local authorities.
Various small towns / counties worldwide: these are typically small communities with clear skies, low light pollution, and a reporting UFO culture which often appear near the top of per-capita lists.
Absolute UFO Counts vs. Per-Capita UFO Hotspots
Absolute counts of UFO sightings favor large, well-connected countries with active UFO reporting like the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia. NUFORC’s and MUFON’s maps show dense clusters across North America and also parts of Europe.
Per capita UFO rankings highlight small towns and rural regions. For example, Bonnybridge’s many UFO reports make it legendary on a per-person basis. Argentina’s Cerro Uritorco is a per-visitor UFO hotspot because of concentrated UFO events and tourism.
Why certain places generate lots of UFO reports
Population & UFO reporting infrastructure: more people and more media equals more UFO reports. Civilian UFO organizations like NUFORC and MUFON, combined with local UFO interest definitely help drive UFO reporting.
Clear skies / low light pollution: deserts, mountains, and rural areas make unusual UFO lights easier to notice.
Military/aviation activity: military testing, restricted airspace, and classified aircraft may produce unfamiliar lights/behavior, with the United States Southwest as a clear example.
Cultural and tourism feedback loops: places famous for UFOs attract tourists and observers, and tourists bring cameras, which produce more UFO reports and sometimes misinterpretations, and sometimes viral UFO footage.
Media & social-media amplification: news coverage of a UFO sighting or even of a famous historic UFO case, can tend to primes locals, and generates follow-up UFO reports.
In conclusion, it must be kept in mind that there are myriads of reasons why a particular area of the world might have the most UFO sightings. It must be thoroughly analyzed why an area has so many UFO sightings.
We must always remember that a UFO sighting does not automatically mean that aliens are associated with the UFO sighting. A UFO sighting is simply an Unidentified Flying Object. That object has the possibility to be man made, alien made, or have a natural explanation. Granted, when a UFO sighting involves descriptions of actual saucers or other strange shapes performing incredible feats, that warrants further investigation, and could be alien.
In addition, as more avenues open up in third world countries for UFO reporting, we may see a dramatic increase in UFO sightings in these places, and other places throughout the world.
