For decades, speculation about unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, and alien life has captured the imagination of all of us. But in recent years, conversations have expanded to another mysterious frontier: the ocean.

Some researchers and UFO enthusiasts argue that the government has hinted at the possibility of unidentified submerged objects, or USOs, which are strange craft seen entering, exiting, or traveling beneath the water. This raises a big question: Did the government actually confirm aliens are real in the ocean?
The short answer is no, no government agency has officially confirmed that aliens exist in the ocean. However, there are some fascinating ideas that fuel speculation. Let’s break them down.
Why the Ocean Comes Up in Alien Discussions
The Ocean Is Vast and Unexplored: Over 80% of Earth’s oceans remain unmapped and unexplored. This leaves room for speculation that alien beings or unknown technology, that could be hiding beneath the ocean waves undetected.
Historical Reports of “USOs”: Navy personnel, fishermen, and even submarine crews have reported sightings of strange USO objects moving underwater at speeds beyond known technology. These sightings often mirror UFO reports in the skies, but instead occur beneath the sea surface.
Connection Between UFOs and Water: Some of the most famous UFO sightings involve craft entering or exiting oceans, lakes, or other large bodies of water. This has led to theories that aliens may use the oceans as bases of operation.
What the U.S. Government Has Actually Said
Pentagon UFO/UAP Reports
In 2021 and 2022, the United States Office of the Director of National Intelligence released reports about UAPs, or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. While most attention was on objects in the sky, the reports did acknowledge incidents involving objects that appeared to transition between air and water in ways not explained by current human technology.
Navy Encounters
Several declassified Navy videos, including the famous “Tic Tac” UFOs seen by pilots in 2004, describe UFO objects performing maneuvers above the ocean and at times seemingly plunging into it without causing splashes or waves. Navy radar operators also reported tracking fast-moving objects underwater.
No Explicit Confirmation of Aliens
While the Pentagon has admitted that many of these encounters remain unexplained, officials have been clear that they have no verified evidence proving the objects are alien spacecraft. The ocean-related cases are intriguing, but they remain in the category of “unknowns.”
Why People Believe Aliens Might Be in the Ocean
Secrecy and Military Interest: The Navy closely studies sonar data and unexplained underwater contacts, but most of this information is classified. This secrecy leads some to suspect there is more to the story.
Anomalous Speed and Behavior: Witnesses have described underwater craft moving thousands of miles per hour, which is something impossible for human submarines or drones.
Lack of Alternative Explanations: If the USO objects are not alien, they would still represent technology beyond what is publicly known, sparking theories of alien origins.
The Skeptical View
Scientists and skeptics caution against jumping to alien conclusions. Instead, they suggest:
Sensor Errors: Radar, sonar, or visual misinterpretations could account for some cases.
Unknown Technology: Rival nations may be testing advanced drones or submarines.
Natural Phenomena: Bioluminescent creatures, undersea volcanic activity, or other rare events may sometimes be mistaken for “craft.”
Conclusion: Mystery, But Not Confirmation
So, did the United States government confirm aliens are real in the ocean? No.
What the government has done is acknowledge credible reports of unidentified objects moving in and out of the ocean that defy easy explanation. That’s a far cry from saying “aliens are here,” but it does add fuel to the mystery.
Until further USO evidence is released, or until a craft is pulled from the ocean floor, the idea of alien life hiding in Earth’s oceans remains speculation. Still, with the Pentagon continuing to investigate UAPs and scientists pushing to explore more of our seas, the ocean may yet hold answers to questions about whether we are alone.
Finally, we must be open to reports from Navy personnel who are reporting massive USOs in our oceans. We cannot turn a blind eye to these reports and we must push for more exploration of our oceans. We know more about the surface of Mars than we do our own oceans here on Earth.
